Phil Schroeder was born on a U.S. Air Force base in Japan and raised an Air Force brat.  He graduated from Churchill High School.  He met his wife, Melissa at a church Bible Study and accepted God’s call to ministry in that same church.

He went to Baylor University and graduated in 1995 with a B.A. in Religion and continued his education at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned his M. Div. degree in 1999.  

During their first four years of marriage (which they call their “Wilderness Wanderings”) they lived in Nashville, TN while Phil attended Seminary.  Phil worked at Baptist Book Store and Melissa worked for a Christian music company. 

They returned to the promised land (yes, Texas) in 1999 when Phil was called to Grace Fellowship (then called First Baptist) to be the “Associate Pastor, Minister of Youth & Education” which meant he did a little of everything. In 2003, Phil became the Senior Pastor and he’s been here ever since.  Phil & Melissa came to us as a couple, but today they are 6.  Phil & Melissa have 4 sons: Joel, Joshua, James & Jared.

Phil is passionate about the good news which is the Gospel.  He likes tough questions because if he doesn’t know the answer, he gets to research it himself. (Ask him one and see for yourself!) Phil and his family love science fiction, superheroes and animals.
